Disposing Plastic Bags to Protect Environment

Recyclable Plastic bags serve the important purpose of carrying the commodities that we purchase or otherwise carry to the workplace while commuting to different places with goods and materials in our day today lives.

But, it’s now a proven truth that these plastic bags and the too much use of them is actually resulting in ecological problems and that the other long term effects on the environment are likely to be catastrophic to us.

Therefore, it is necessary to be aware of this fact and of getting the “biodegradable waste” of this plastic bag out of our systems – not just out of the big metropolises but also from the rural and semi urban environs from the rest of the country, as also the under developed parts of the world in fighting against this environmental and ecological problem.

There are many things we as individuals can do to start the process of cleaning the world - starting from our living places to actually contributing to ridding the environment of this waste materials made of plastic.

The approach for this is twofold.

1. Reuse the existing plastic bags
2. Refuse to accept new bags

Having fully realized the importance of needing to check the use of plastic bags and plastic we should never encourage the use of plastic bags and start storing the existing bags in a drawer or cupboard at our house and or office and tend to use them, only at times of need. For achieving this, we should not allow shopkeepers and vendors to give us new plastic bags by saying a firm no and restricting them from forcing us to use more of plastic hand bags.

This kind of refusal to accept new bags will go down seriously, in the minds of the grocery vendors and they will themselves start restricting the use of these plastic bags and the practice as a whole will start coming down in the first place. This is the only way this practice would get checked and we will be able to enforce the policy amongst all like-minded people with the passage of time.

Again, most people already appreciate, the need for this system to get in place but aren’t quite sure  how this can be brought underway- however no such process or system can be left for those in authority alone, without efforts from us the common folk on the street who are the real torch bearers of this society.
